DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY SURVEY

The Ohio State University Center for Diagnostic Assays has developed a validated REAL-TIME RT-PCR ASSAY (patent pending) for the rapid detection of nucleotide sequences that are unique to very virulent Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (vvIBDV) strains affecting the poultry industry. This assay distinguishes vvIBDV strains from non-vvIBDV classic and variant strains.

In order to bring to market a vvIBDV diagnostic kit that best satisfies the needs of labs and their customers, we are requesting a few minutes of your time to provide us with your input.

1. Does your laboratory provide diagnostic testing which utilizes RT-PCR technology?

2. If yes, what are the primary companies from which you purchase RT-PCR kits?

3. Please provide relevant contact information for your laboratory below:

4. Do you currently offer testing for IBDV?

5. Do you perceive a need for a molecular assay to distinguish vvIBDV strains from non-vvIBDV classic and variant strains?

6. What is the likelihood that your lab would purchase these kits if available in the near future from a reputable firm?

7. What is the reason that it would be unlikely for you to purchase vvIBDV assay kits? (from question #6):

8. Please estimate the annual quantity of vvIBDV assays your lab would run. (assays/yr.)

9. Approximately what price range would make it feasible for you to purchase these assays when available? (price per assay)

10. If you have any questions or have comments to share, please feel free to utilize the space below.

THANK YOU. We appreciate your time and valuable input.
