This survey will inform the 2026 DC Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). The SCORP provides planning guidance for the District's Land and Water Conservation Grant Funding. We are excited to hear your thoughts and thank you in advance for your time! Your feedback is invaluable.
Please review the following topics and descriptions below. These nine topics were identified as key priorities in DPR's 2020 SCORP plan. After reviewing these topics, please answer the questions that follow.

1. Resilience & Sustainability: Build a park system that helps the District adapt to climate change by using parks to capture rainwater, reduce flooding, provide shade and cooling, and be part of the community network that builds social resilience.

2. Access, Connectivity & Diversity of Recreational Experiences: Ensure that every resident has safe access to a quality park or green space within ½ mile of their home. Address access to nature and the diversity of recreational experiences, amenities, and programs available to residents across the city by building a system of green spaces, corridors, and trails.

3. Accessibility & Inclusion: Work to adopt universal design principles at all playgrounds and facilities and go beyond the minimum requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in all new construction. Provide a safe and welcoming environment for all persons at DC parks.

4. Health & Equity: Promote an approach to investment and policy that addresses the historical inequities and racism that communities of color have faced. There will be a focus on how parks can promote better health outcomes through their programming, design, and services offered.

5. Technology & Innovation: Integrate and utilize new technology in our parks, promote entrepreneurship programming, and continue to innovate by designing new spaces and programs to address the concerns of our time.

6. Education: Promote educational programming opportunities in parks and outdoor recreation spaces to empower individuals and communities.

7. Identity & Culture: Increase performance space and arts and cultural programming in our parks and create programming, events, and designs that celebrate the rich diversity, culture, and identity of the District.

8. Enhancement & Maintenance: Work to equitably invest in capital improvement projects at sites facing the greatest need. Ensure regular upkeep and repair of our parks and outdoor facilities across every neighborhood.

9. Collaboration & Administration: Seek out partners to expand public access to outdoor recreational space and programs. Focus on administrative functions of the agency to get feedback on the policies and processes in place.
