SARUA Programme for Climate Change Capacity Development

INTRODUCTION

The SCIN Peer Review Group (PRG) is a reference group, established to provide broad-based input into the development of a SARUA Master's curriculum and courseware in climate change and sustainable development. The objectives of establishing a PRG are to ensure regional relevance in the curriculum content and to encourage participation in a process of curriculum innovation, for the benefit of universities in the SADC region.

There will be three review opportunities:
1. Draft curriculum framework (November 2015)
2. Draft curriculum for core and initial elective modules (February 2016)
3. Draft courseware for core and initial elective modules (June 2016)

PRINCIPLES OF PEER REVIEW GROUP PARTICIPATION
1. The PRG comprises individuals who are registered as SCIN participants in one of the following categories:
   - Participating universities;
   - External stakeholders;
   - Individual contributors.
2.The PRG acts as a reference group, but has no formal quality assurance responsibility.
3. PRG participation is voluntary and each individual can choose his/her area of interest to contribute to.
4. Contributions are not remunerated.
5. PRG members will be requested to submit their comments via email or via an online questionnaire. No physical meetings will be held.
6. Documentation to be reviewed will be clearly marked as DRAFT versions for the PRG and should not be disseminated further.
7. Contributions are consolidated by the SCIN Coordinator and moderated by a Curriculum Review Team and UDC Review Leads.
8. Peer review contributions will be formally acknowledged in SCIN communications.

Any questions and/or comments can be directed to the SCIN Coordinator, Mr Botha Kruger, at botha@futurelead.co.za.
