Purpose

Thank you for taking the time to improve civic engagement on the Lower Passaic River!

The goal of this 10-minute survey is to help better network local civic organizations carrying out stewardship and sustainable community development activities on the Lower Passaic River, and help government agencies conduct outreach on projects impacting the river and its communities. The results from the survey will drive the content for two projects:

1. A Civic Engagement Map of local civic groups engaging in stewardship and community development activities related to the river, with information about their main program areas, partners, and how they reach their membership and share information with the public

2. A How-to Guide geared towards federal and state agencies developing community involvement plans for their projects, with information about the communication tools local groups use to involve their memberships in decision-making.

This survey has been advanced on behalf of the  Lower Passaic River Urban Waters Federal Partnership by NY/NJ Baykeeper. The Lower Passaic River Urban Waters Federal Partnership is a collaboration of federal and state agencies, municipalities, and community-based organizations advancing cleanup, restoration, and stewardship of the Lower Passaic River and equitable, sustainable development along its banks.
This survey and mapping effort is inspired by and draws upon the methodology of the US Forest Service Stewardship Mapping and Assessment Project (STEW-MAP) which has mapped thousands of stewardship groups in the NY/NJ metropolitan area.

Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary. Your personal contact information will not be made public in any way; it will only be used to contact you if we have questions about information you provide on the survey.
