Thank you for your interest in Fairfax Village in the City!

The mission of Fairfax Village in the City, a joint effort of city staff and community volunteers is to help residents aged 55 and up and those with disabilities to age in place within the City of Fairfax community. To that end, the Village works to build personal connections between neighbors, share useful information, and facilitate access to area resources.

What is a Village? A Village is grassroots, community-tailored initiative utilized to support older adults to age in place. According to AARP, the village concept aims to “support the medical, functional, emotional, social and spiritual needs” of older adults within their home communities. Village models can differ from one community to the next but central concepts remain the same. The Village is not a provider; instead, it joins community members together by coordinating neighbor-helping-neighbor volunteerism focused on strengthening older residents’ community connections and offering them assistance in accessing available services and supports. The Village will not replace the services and supports provided to City residents by Fairfax County.

The following survey is for Fairfax City residents 55 and older to help gauge the needs and interest in Fairfax Village in the City.

A future survey will be posted for those interested in volunteer their time and skills to Fairfax Village in the City.
