Water Service Identification

Program Purpose

The Safe Drinking Water requires EPA to establish and enforce standards for public drinking water systems.  In Wisconsin, the DNR has the state regulations in place and is implementing procedures for the enforcement of these regulations on inventorying private side water service types.  These Lead & Copper Rule Revisions are intended to provide greater protection of public health by reducing exposure to lead and copper in drinking water.
The Baraboo Water Utility began undertaking the initiative to inventory all service line materials connected to the public water distribution system.  This includes material not only on the City owned portion of the service line, but also on the customers' side of the service line.
Customers are asked to complete an online survey regarding their water service line.  Water utility staff are also available to assist you in inspecting your water service line if needed to to complete this survey.
