Dear Responder:

Washington State University (WSU), in collaboration with the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards & Training (DPSST), is working to identify a comprehensive set of critical skills required for leadership in the public safety sector.

Due to your expertise we are asking you to participate in this Public Safety Leadership survey. The purpose of the survey is to help us understand what makes a successful Public Safety Leader

In the survey that follows, you will be asked several key demographic questions. We do not ask you to identify yourself.

You will then be given lists of "performance" and "difficulty" statements.

You will be asked to rate the "performance" statements for how critical a skill is for Public Safety Leadership. We will ask you to consider the criticality of that skill during routine operations and then during a time of crisis.

You will be asked to rate the difficulty statements for how much more difficult you think they make it for Public Safety professionals to succeed in a leadership role, and for how frequently you think they occur.

Thank you for making this valuable contribution to Public Safety Leadership development. Everything you communicate to us will be maintained in the strictest confidence. Once we have completed our review, we will remove any personal identifiers inadvertently collected so that all of your input becomes permanently anonymous.
Sincerely,
Steve
