Welcome! The Museum Art and Culture Access Consortium (MAC) is grateful for your interest.

Introduction

The Museum Art and Culture Access Consortium (MAC) has been carefully preparing this survey for staff coordinating accessible virtual programming. We recognize that many people in different departments collaborate to ensure accessible programming and content, so please think about who on your team could provide the most robust answers.

About MAC

As MAC is composed of access workers from a variety of cultural institutions, we collectively feel the impact on our institutions by COVID-19. For the past 30 years, the Museum Art and Culture Access Consortium (MAC) has impacted the cultural lives of the disability community through connection, education, and advocacy. MAC is an association composed of professionals in the fields of disability, art, and culture, who facilitate professional development workshops and offer a network of mutual support to help practitioners engage with disability advocacy and concepts associated with disability.

About the Survey (Deadline has been extended to January 22nd)

With support from the FAR Fund, this project, titled Mapping Virtual Access in Cultural Institutions will document current access practices through this survey. Your answers will provide guidance as to how to build workshops and a tool kit meant to support NYC area cultural institutions during the pandemic.  This survey and project will highlight new ways we have all been expanding connections and adapting to restructuring programming.

The identifying information in this survey will not be shared externally beyond MAC and any data resulting from the survey will only be shared within an aggregate. This being said, there are always risks when sharing information online. This survey will take 15-20 minutes to complete and you can save it and come back to it as needed. Also, while we would prefer for you to complete all the questions, we are especially interested in Section 1.

In an attempt to make this survey as accessible as possible, we also are providing the survey in a Microsoft Word document (which you can either find attached to your email or it can be requested from the email below) and you can also complete the survey by phone, please email macleadermvaci@gmail.com for a phone number.

Other ways to be involved with MAC could include becoming a member. MAC membership gives you the opportunity to stay in touch with others working in access throughout the NYC area. Click here to find out more: https://macaccess.org/membership/. Please spread the word! MAC thanks you for your time and all the work you do to make art and culture more accessible!
