The 124th VFW National Convention will be held July 22-27, 2023, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Arizona's assigned hotel is the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown.
Since Arizona is the hosting Department, we are expected to provide a cadre of volunteers to help manage the success of the convention. This is our time to shine.
Opportunities exist in a number of areas, including Registration, Transportation, Memorial Service, Patriotic Celebration, and Signage/Flags.
Registration involves assisting attendees at the registration kiosks and directing members to the correct line. Assigned duty times will be 4 hour shifts between 8am and 4pm beginning July 21 through July 26. You do not have to be available all day, every day.
Transportation needs a minimum of 21 volunteers, to include assigned drivers for the National Officers, 2 overnight general (on-call) drivers, and other general day time drivers. Leased vehicles will be provided by VFW National. A Motor Vehicle Check will be conducted.
Memorial Service needs 8-10 volunteers are needed on the day of the service, currently scheduled for Sunday, July 23 at 8:30am. Volunteers must arrive 1 hour prior to the service to distribute the Memorial Service Programs
Patriotic Celebration needs 15 volunteers to assist with coordination of on-site activities including line-up of VFW Departments for Patriotic March scheduled for Tuesday, July 25.
Signage/Flags needs 7 volunteers each day for all meetings to set flags and signs
