Thank you for taking part in this study looking at grooming behaviour and vomiting/passing hairballs in pet cats.
We know for some cats, hairballs (clumps of hair/fur vomited up or passed in faeces) can be frequent and sometimes cause problems, whilst for other cats, hairballs are not a concern at all. We aim to learn more about your cat’s fur and grooming, and how this might impact their general health.
Please complete the survey even if your cat has never had hairballs to allow us to understand more about managing a cat’s fur and their grooming habits. It should take approximately 10-15minutes to complete.
The survey is open to cat caregivers worldwide over the age of 18 years.
Participation in the survey is optional, and you can drop out at any time. If you have more than one cat, please complete the survey once for each cat. Please only complete the survey for cats that you are currently caring for (and not for cats you may have cared for in the past). Only one person needs to respond from each household.
Anonymous data acquired from this study will be held in the UK, subject to UK data protection laws and will be analysed by the researchers Dr Sam Taylor (Specialist in Feline Internal Medicine, Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, CVS Vets Referrals) and Michelle Farrow (Research Assistant, CVS Veterinary Group). This study has received ethical approval from CVS ethics board [Approval number: CVS-2026-015].
By completing and submitting this questionnaire, you give permission for the data to be used for research and publication. Your responses are anonymous and no identifiable data will be collected. No data will be passed onto third parties.
