Application to become a Rural Change Maker NOW CLOSED;
About the application process
Welcome! If you followed this link to get here we know you are interested in developing your community leadership capacity and want to make a difference for your rural community. Congratulations! That is truly admirable and rural Ontario needs more people like you to step-up. Thanks for your interest.
The information you provide in this form will be used to help the Rural Ontario Institute select participants in the “Young Rural Change Makers” program. We are currently limited in the number of participants we can take into the program so please apply early! There is no program fee or tuition you need to pay but there are some commitments you are being asked to make…i.e. by applying to this initiative and submitting this form you acknowledge and agree that:
· you will contribute your ideas and learnings by participating on a secure online networking platform with other Rural Change Makers from across the province;
· you will attend and complete 7 (90 min) interactive webinars in Community Building Fundamentals;
· you are prepared to travel to a two day workshop with other Rural Change Makers to boost your confidence and skills for community facilitation (NB. Covid restrictions permitting. We cannot promise your travel costs will be covered but your food and accommodation at the workshop will be covered); and,
· you will organize at least two community meetings in your area to do asset mapping around key priorities and to mobilize others in follow up action planning.
In addition we will be asking for your permission that your name and photo can be shared on our website and in other public communication materials to publicize the program and connect you with local community organizations and build your networks. This will also help ROI gain support for your initiatives and/or overall funding for the program.
Finally, as this is a pilot program, you can expect to be asked to provide feedback on your experience and the program resources such as the webinars, the workshop and other coaching we provide.
Our commitment to you is that you will be provided;
· on-line learning in community development principles from informed instructors with decades of applied experience;
· experiential learning in an interactive, group setting to practice the use of community facilitation and animation tools and boost your confidence.
· the opportunity to connect with peers across the province and potentially build a supportive, learning network;
· potential for certification in Community Building Fundamentals upon successful completion of the project; and,
· an extraordinary experience to strengthen your leadership within your own community!
This application will be forwarded to our selection panel and participants will be confirmed by early June. Thank you again for your interest in Rural Change Makers.
