Campaign Readiness Parish Survey

During the past year, the leadership of the Parish, along with the Building and Grounds Committee, began a Master Planning process that reviewed the needs and space desires of the parish.  Together we generated options for the parish to consider.  A process of dialogue in the form of interviews, vision groups and surveys are taking place. These conversations not only have created a platform for reflection and feedback aimed at strengthening Saint Mary Parish, but they have also helped to inform and shape the vision for a possible capital campaign that will move us forward, building for the future together, meeting the needs of this community of faith and those of generations still to come.

To ensure the process is successful, the goal is to engage as many parishioners as possible.  Your input and perspective regarding these potential plans for the parish is needed.

Your perspective is critical to the success of this process and I invite you to lend your voice to the conversation by participating in the following survey. Please take 5-10 minutes to share your thoughts and respond to the proposed review of parish needs and possible solutions that have evolved from the process thus far.

We ask that all surveys, paper or electronic, be returned by Sunday, March 15, 2015.

Gratefully,
Father Tom May
Pastor

Question Title

* 6. PROPOSAL TWO: Takes the first two components of Proposal One and adds two additional components with an elevator. This proposal is intended to be a more integrated approach.  This proposal cannot be divided into individual projects.

FUTURE IMPACT - A complete renovation of the Rectory, making the current Rectory a private home for Saint Mary priests.  By making the Rectory a private home, offices must be relocated.   A two story Parish Entry, outside the Parish Life Center, is proposed housing a welcome reception area and multiple business offices.

EDUCATION IMPACT - A new two story School/Religious Education Entryway provides a single secure entry to the school education center and central location for the Principal, RE director and other school administrators.  The new entry also provides an updated, welcoming area that is more conveniently located off the parking lot.  By creating new space for administration, old administrative offices would be transformed into new expanded preschool space.

MISSION IMPACT - By remodeling the Parish Life Center Lobby, a new Community Center provides the “heart” of the parish on the main campus.  It can be used in many ways: for fellowship after masses and funerals, by small groups including school and religious education classes desiring a more intimate setting for liturgy prayer or scripture study and various mission and ministry work.  The space can be subdivided for multiple meetings helping to provide additional meeting space beyond the Parish Life Center and the Oak Room. An addition of an elevator located in the Parish Center Lobby, which would provide access to all levels of Parish and School buildings.

EDUCATION IMPACT - New Classroom Wing relocates the old classrooms that are displaced for a new community gathering space.  Provides secure outdoor courtyard.  Connects the Parish and School Education center for a more unified campus.  Centralizes all academic classrooms in Education Center.

Estimated Cost Summary for Proposal Two:

Estimated construction cost of new space ---- $5,989,000
Estimated infrastructure improvements to current Saint Mary facilities --- $750,000
Saint Mary Capital Campaign obligation to the Chicago Archdiocese --- $461,000
Total Estimated Campaign Goal: $7,200,000

Question Title

* 11. In order to move forward responsibly with a capital campaign, it is helpful to get a better understanding of parishioners' willingness to participate financially.  Capital campaign gifts are a special offering above and beyond offertory giving and may be paid over a five year time period.  Understanding that your decision will be influenced by the final project communicated, please indicate the level your family would likely consider in supporting this special and important initiative for Saint Mary Parish.  As a reminder, they can be made over a five year pledge.
