On Line Public Consultation Re Ramsbottom Market

Bury Council have commissioned Market Place Management Limited to conduct a feasibility study to help inform the future of Ramsbottom Market.

Ramsbottom Saturday Market served the town for over 40 years but sadly closed in early 2025, reflecting a wider decline in town and city centre markets across the UK

As part of the Ramsbottom Town Plan, The Institute of Place Management (IPM) produced the Place Making Action Plan for Ramsbottom Town Centre. Among many opportunities, it highlights the potential to “reinvent the market offer and introduce creative interventions.”

Bury Council is now seeking public views on the future of a market in Ramsbottom, including whether the town needs a market, what it should look like, where it should be located, how often it should operate, and what alternative options could be considered.
