Welcome to the New Castle County Division of Police BODY WORN CAMERA Survey
Informed Consent and Confidentiality Statement
We would like to invite you to participate is a survey about citizens’ knowledge about and opinions of body worn cameras. We are interested in your views and experiences, as the perspectives of citizens served by the New Castle County Police Department are important to us. The study is being conducted by the New Castle County Police Department. This survey provides an opportunity for you to provide your input on the use of body worn camera as The Department prepares to deploy them in the community. Your responses may help The Department understand how the community feels about the use of body worn cameras and may help us better form guidelines and policies.
Your participation is completely voluntary. The answers you give will be entirely confidential and anonymous - - no one in will know how you answered the questions. We will keep your responses secret because if the study is to be helpful, it is important that you answer each question truthfully, as best you can. This survey is completely voluntary. There is NO penalty if you choose not to fill out the questionnaire or any part of it. However, your response is very important to The Department. We hope that you will take the 10-15 minutes or so needed to complete this internet-based questionnaire. Your responses will remain completely confidential. At the end of the survey is a question asking if The Department can contact you in the future to fill out another survey. Volunteering to participate in future surveys is completely voluntary and declining do you so will have no impact on you whatsoever. Should you volunteer to participate in future surveys, you will be asked to provide your email address so that we can contact you in the future. The email address you provide will not be connected to you survey responses, so your answers are still confidential and anonymous. If you provide an email address it will only be used to contact you to ask if you wish to participate in a survey in the future. If you decide to provide an email address and we contact you, you are in no way obligated to participate in the survey at that time and can decline to participate with no impact on you.
