Emeryville Summer 2020 Youth Programming

Help Shape Emeryville's Summer 2020 Youth Programming

The Emeryville Community Services Department wants your feedback regarding summer classes, in-person camps, and summer virtual camp classes. We are currently preparing for summer programming and actively monitoring County, State, and CDC guidelines in order to provide as much of a safe and sanitary environment for youth as possible.

Staff are assessing program and facilities for social distancing opportunities and securing supplies (i.e. sanitizers, soaps, scanning thermometers, individual camper sets of class/camp supplies). The department has been developing classes, an in-person camp model that implements social distance protocols and potentially virtual summer camp classes that would consist of programming provided through Zoom or another online platform. Your honest feedback will help us shape what summer looks like for the Emeryville Community. We appreciate and value your feedback.
1.How many children will need care for in the summer?
2.What are their age ranges (check all that apply)
3.How comfortable are you transitioning your child(ren) back into a group environment?
4.We are considering offering the following Types of camp:

a) In person, traditional camp within health and safety guidelines
b) Virtual Camp, materials are given to campers and they attend four 60-minute guided zoom activities online each day

What type of programs would you be interested in enrolling in (check all that apply)?
5.How many days a week would you enroll in an in-person camp program?
6.For an in-person camp, what program hours would you need the most?
7.How many days a week would you use a VIRTUAL camp program?
8.For a combination program, what kind of ratio would interest you?
9.What weekly virtual enrichment class topics would you consider enrolling your child in?
10.90 minute “Rec” Classes: These classes would provide various structured activities and would be supervised by a Rec leader. These classes are meant to give a brief opportunity to parents/guardians for supervised child care while also providing a safe and supervised space for youth. Parents/guardians can drop off and pick up within the 90 minute class and it would follow all safety guidelines. Would you take advantage of a 90 minute rec class at some point in the summer?
11.If programs are offered virtually as opposed to in-person, the most I am willing to pay is:
12.What distance learning practices/advice have you learned that could be passed to the Community Services Department and what are your favorite platforms and activities that you’ve done online?
13.Going cashless: to lower the amount of people paying in person in the ECCL lobby, we want to consider going cashless and only take online or over the phone payments. How will this impact you?
14.Online Registration Only: All applications will be converted to online, fillable documents that can be submitted via email without needing to come in to pick up and/or fill out paperwork. Would you be able to complete online registration processes?
15.Do you have any other comments for the Emeryville Community Services Department?
