* 3. RULES AND GUIDELINES OF ENTRY
  1. Entry is FREE and only available to residents within the Shire of Ashburton, with a limit of one entry per household.
  2. Registration need to be completed and submitted to the Shire before 5pm 30 November 2020.
  3. Lights need to be displayed during the Christmas period 1 Dec to 31 Dec for public viewing.
  4. The Onslow Christmas Lights 'People's Choice Award' will be judged by the public.
  5. Public voting will commence 1 December and close 21 December 2020.
  6. All entrants agree to allow organisers to take and publicise photos of their display in print, digital and social media, including flyers and promotional material.
  7. The misuse of electricity can cause injury or death. Entrants must not use any indoor lighting products outdoors and must comply with the safety instructions on all electrical products used.
  8. Electrical safety is paramount and must be exercised at all times. Misuse of electricity could lead to your disqualification from the competition.
  9. Inspections by qualified electricians to check the safety of the entrant’s display, is at the entrant’s expense, and is recommended. 
  10. Household insurance policies should be checked by each entrant to ensure appropriate cover is available.
  11. Entrants need to consider the impact their display will have on the safety of vehicular and pedestrian traffic and must plan to ensure that any risks are minimized.
  12. Entrants are not to use the footpath, electricity poles, or any property outside their boundary for any purpose of their display.
  13. Rental tenants should seek written permission from their landlords before entering this competition.
  14. The participants in the Christmas Lights Competition will indemnify the Shire of Ashburton for all accidents or injuries arising from the negligence of the participants whilst actively participating in this competition.
  15. The organisers accept no responsibility for damage, injury, or theft which may occur as a result of your entry into this competition.
  16. Failure to comply with the Terms and Conditions of Entry may lead to immediate cancellation of any entry or disqualification.
  17. The Christmas Lights Competition is designed to encourage community participation and the spirit of giving and sharing.  Entrants agree to enter the competition in the spirit in which it was intended and act accordingly.
  18. If an entry form is not completed properly the form will not be assessed or taken into consideration for the competition. It is the full responsibility of the entrant to read all terms and conditions of this competition.
  19. Voting will close at 5pm 21 December 2020. The winner will be notified by phone and their details published in the Onslow Pipeline and on the Shire of Ashburton website and social media platforms.
