2017 Free ADR Brownbag Workshops

REGISTRATION

All ADR Brown-bags are free and will be held from noon to 1 pm at the DOJ Robertson building at 1215 State Street, Salem Oregon 97301 in the basement Redwood meeting room. These lunchtime workshops will be an opportunities to meet with your peers and professional ADR Providers and discuss topics of mutual interest. These informal gatherings will be facilitated by Mike Niemeyer, the DOJ ADR Coordinator. Seeking stakeholder consensus on a complex policy matter or just trying to educate the public about new agency activities? This will be a chance to hear from experts on how you can better engage the public.

Facilitating Better Workgroups, Teams and Committees Tuesday, March 14th Is your commission doing some strategic planning? Is your workgroup looking to build a stronger team? This brownbag will highlight techniques that professional facilitators use to help groups work together to build relationships and get things done.

Working with stakeholders on Contentious Public Policies? Thursday, April 13th You’ve been charged with convening a diverse group of stakeholders to help your agency address a contentious public policy issue or cite an essential but unwanted facility. Now what? Hear from experts who have helped Oregon stakeholders work together collaboratively on the most challenging projects.

State Agency Mediation: Best Practices and Traps for the Unwary Tuesday, May 3rd Agencies are encouraged to find collaborative solutions to disputes and to use mediation as a way to do that. Agencies are also expected to operate in the sunshine. Learn more about how to successfully navigate the mediation confidentiality statutes and Oregon’s transparency laws to achieve effective and efficient resolution of your agency disputes. You’ll also have a chance to get tips from professional mediators on ways to make your next mediation more successful.
