White Paper Guidelines:Please submit a white paper — no more than 3 pages — with the following details:
- Goal of the project – what you hope to demonstrate or discover as a result of the work. Ideally, proposed ideas should have clear scientific and/or engineering goals. Describe the long-term, big-picture vision for your project:
- Identify a concrete target that can be realistically achieved on a 5-10 year timeframe with a specific scientific and/or engineering goal that can be used as a benchmark for a major milestone. Will even the first steps of progress towards this goal lead to significant technological payoffs?
- If this initial stage is achieved, what might future targets for work beyond the next 5-10 years look like?
- Explain why the proposed project could not be better pursued by industry players.
- Explain how the proposed project leverages unique strengths of MIT.
- Provide a list of collaborators and team members who will contribute to this project.
Moonshot (Quest Core) Projects ONLY:
- Explain how the proposed project is likely to advance an engineering-based understanding of intelligence. (e.g. What it is, how the brain produces it, and/or how it can be engineered.)
Mission (Quest Bridge) Projects ONLY:
- For an Education Mission:
- Describe what new educational methodology or experience will result from using the personnel, resources and technologies of The Bridge.
- Explain how the proposed project is likely to improve how students learn, both on campus and at other institutions
- For a Research Mission:
- Describe what you hope to demonstrate or discover in your own research as a result of using the personnel, resources and technologies of The Bridge.
- Explain how the proposed project is likely to advance your understanding of your field.
