Introduction

Flooding can have devastating impacts to the community. Significant flooding of the twins towns of Murrumburrah and Harden is known to have occurred in 1930 and 1993. Based on historic records, the 1930 flood event was particularly severe, resulting in substantial damage to homes and businesses.

Hilltops Council has engaged WMA Water to undertake a detailed Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan covering the local creeks in Murrumburrah and Harden. The study incorporates the floodplains of the local creeks system which passes through the centre of town. Once completed the study will give Council a better understanding of the current flood risk to the community and support many Council functions including development, planning, community education, flood preparations and response.

Have your say!

Currently, we are in the initial phases of this project and an important first step is to engage with the community and draw on your extensive local knowledge. We are specifically interested in historic records of flooding such as photographs, flood marks or observations you may have. The following survey is expected to take 15 minutes to complete. We thank you for your time and value your input.
