Data entry and clean-up: The Lighthouse utilizes Salesforce for our constituent management. After or before an event we have a ton of work to do in getting new parties in the system. Throughout the year we have various cleanup and updating projects. If you want to add Salesforce database skills to your resume, here’s a great place to start. No experience necessary! If you happen to be a Salesforce user or expert, we’d love to hear from you.

Hand writing notes: On occasion we have a need to send out cards to our donors and other constituency, which means several hand written notes at once. A hand-written message adds that special touch in thanking supporters of the Lighthouse.

Mailings: Stuffing envelopes, affixing labels, etc.

Assembling informational packets and materials for Lighthouse tours and tabling events: We provide the materials and workspace; you provide the hands and time.

General fundraising event support: Helping with event set-up, serving/assisting during the event, post event clean-up and support.

Serving on The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc.’s Event Committee(s) – The Lighthouse’s Events Committee is comprised of Board Members, Lighthouse employees, and community members. This committee(s) support key Lighthouse fundraising events such as our annual Luncheon, Golf Tournament and Garden Party by providing strategic direction, driving event attendance, generating community support and volunteering during the event.

Photography: The Lighthouse has ongoing needs for volunteer photographers at fundraising events, community events, and special projects.

Social Media: Help us bring engaging, educational, and motivational content to our social media community by writing compelling social media content! If you love interacting on the social media sphere, are interested in trends in the blindness community, or are a seasoned social media user, we can use your help!

Digital Archiving: We are looking to digitize our over 99 years of photographic and print history, and are looking for volunteers to scan and catalogue materials.

Distributing flyers: Helping us reach the masses by sharing upcoming events with our community at large.

Attending tabling events to promote the Lighthouse: Workplace giving events and community fairs are a great opportunity to share the Lighthouse mission. Having someone to partner with a staff member for 2-3 hours, providing sighted guide, assisting with setup and tear-down, and providing visual information during the event itself is very helpful. This volunteer opportunity will require additional training time to learn about the Lighthouse.

Researching Grants and Sponsorship Opportunities: Research to find foundations and grant-makers that would support our mission, businesses to sponsor events, and other university and nonprofit partnerships. This applies to the Seattle, Spokane, San Diego, and South Carolina areas.

School tour program support: This is a great opportunity to assist with sharing with young people the abilities of people who are blind and DeafBlind by helping setup and cleanup for class tours, and to possibly even be a tour guide.

Sidewalk Clean-up: The Lighthouse Orientation and Mobility department would love assistance with keeping pathways to nearby bus stops clear of fallen leaves and debris for our blind and DeafBlind employees.

Painting: We sometimes have the need for an office to be painted. If you have experience in this area, we’d love to have you spend the day with us and share your talent.
