The World Health Organisation recognizes childhood obesity as a global epidemic http://www.who.int/dietphysicalactivity/childhood/en/.
There is currently no special interest group within the WCPT Subgroup, the International Organisation of Physical Therapists in Paediatrics (IOPTP), which addresses the epidemic of childhood obesity.
In order to provide a hub for physiotherapists to share knowledge and experience in the area of childhood obesity members of the IOPTP hope to establish a childhood obesity special interest group. As part of this process we would like to gather information from physiotherapists around the world regarding their current involvement in the area of childhood obesity.
