Krauss Locomotive Display - Buderim

The following survey is aimed at gathering community feedback on the newly proposed location for the Krauss Locomotive display in Buderim.

Project Summary - Project No. 25229
The Krauss Locomotive transported goods and people between Palmwoods and Buderim Mountain between 1915 and 1935.
The Buderim Palmwoods Heritage Tramway Inc (BPHTI) has been carefully restoring the locomotive since 2004.  In August 2011, Buderim residents and the wider community were invited to share ideas to help shape the Buderim Central Parklands Landscape Concept Plan.  The feedback from the community supported the display of the restored Krauss on the corner of Lindsay Road and Burnett Street which was subsequently endorsed by Council. BPHTI have recently advised they no longer support the previously endorsed location and are seeking support for the demolition of the existing Lindsay Road public toilet block and the construction of a new public amenities block that will also showcase the Krauss to the community.

Funding and Estimated Costs
To date BPHTI have raised $100,000 towards the construction of this locomotive display, and council has committed $50,000 to date towards this valuable community initiative. Taking these existing funds into account it is estimated that the additional cost to Council, for the construction of this new facility, will be in the order of $400,000 plus, subject to detailed design.  Additional funds will need to be acquired to allow this project to proceed.  Council will continue to work with the State and Federal Government regarding grant opportunities, and will also consider this project during future Council budget deliberations.
