Tell your story to protect DD, ABD and In-Home Supports Waiver Funding!

1.The NH House of Representatives has just approved a budget that:
  1. Cuts $62.8 million in total funds from Developmental Services - effectively defunding any new services for individuals coming into the system over the next two years.
  2. Requires across-the-board 3% reductions in all existing Medicaid rates. This could amount to an additional $14-15 million cut per year.
  3. Mandates a "back-of-the-budget" cut of an additional $46 million over the biennium at DHHS.
To anonymously share what a cut to funding would mean to your family, put it into the comment box below.

Be honest as possible about how a cut to services would impact you and your family. For example - what would happen:
  • If you or your loved one couldn't obtain funding for Community Participation/Day Program support?
  • If there were no residential service funds available as you or your loved ones age and need more support?
  • If you or your loved one aged out or graduated from school, and there was no money left for adult services for them?
  • If your Participant Directed Services (PDMS) budget was reduced?
  • If you or your loved one experienced increased behavioral or medical support needs and there was no money available to fund the increased support they needed?
  • If your or your loved one's staffed residence closed and funding was unavailable for them to find somewhere new to live?
  • Would you or another family member have to leave your job if funding was unavailable for support for your family member with a disability? If you did - what would that mean financially for you and your family?
These are real possibilities as New Hampshire Developmental Services faces these enormous budget cuts over the next two years. Please, share your story below. CSNI will compile these stories into anonymous testimony to share with Senate finance and through social media to increase awareness of these issues. Please do not include any details in your testimony that you do not want shared publicly.
