Park City has North America’s most ambitious climate goals: to be a carbon neutral community that runs on 100% renewable electricity by 2030.
The four overarching strategies of how we will achieve these goals are EERR:
Energy efficiency
Electrification
Renewables
Regeneration

A key driver of success towards this goal is transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs). The City is in the process of installing several EV charging points on municipally-owned lots for public use, which will fully powered by renewables by 2022. Electric vehicles not only eliminate tailpipe emissions that pollute the air, in Park City they will be charged with renewables so that no pollution is produced at the power plant!

Through a partnership with Summit Community Power Works (a program of Utah Clean Energy) and funding from the Utah Clean Air Partnership (UCAIR), Park City Municipal is launching  a competitive campaign to grant four local businesses or lot owners $5000 each to install EV chargers on their lots for public use, and to promote electric vehicles as a viable solution to reduce harmful emissions.

Incentive award checks will be issued when the building permit application is submitted. Awardees will be required to sign a contract that verifies that EV chargers will be installed by December 31, 2020 and that incentive awards can only be used for installing electric vehicle charging equipment including installation by a certified electrical contractor, any required electrical upgrades, charger costs, and signage. Awardees must submit a valid W9 form in order to receive incentive funding.
