Introduction

Brimbank City Council recognises the urgency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the community, and adopted its Climate Change Emergency Plan 2020-2025 in June 2020. The Plan establishes the framework to transition the community to net zero emissions by 2040. In addition to a net zero emissions community target, Brimbank City Council has set an interim and aspirational target of 70% less net community annual emissions by 2030.

To help meet the community emissions reduction targets, Brimbank City Council is conducting a comprehensive analysis of decarbonisation pathways for commercial and industrial emissions within the municpality. Brimbank City Council has engaged Ndevr Environmental to assist with this study.

The purpose of this survey is to identify areas for emissions reduction and the role Council can play in facilitating these.
