FireSmart Interpretive Trail

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is excited to start the design and development of a new interpretive trail system in the Birchwood Trails, focused on FireSmart. While FireSmart work has existed in the region since the early 2000s, the Municipality accepted the RMWB Wildfire Mitigation Strategy in 2017 and has been implementing a full-scale approach to mitigating the risk of future wildfire damage to homes, neighbourhoods and communities.

This interpretive trail project is at its very beginning, and we are currently in the process of recommending a site for this new community resource. Please provide your input through this survey. There will also be more opportunities for your involvement in the coming months as the design is developed.
