What I Wish I Knew Then That I Know Now - Parents

The NYS Special Education TaskForce is interested in learning about what strategies or advocacy skills you know now that you wish you knew when you began the special education journey. The Special Education TaskForce is interested in hearing what worked for you so we can inform others.

We will not be asking for any personal information, and all survey responses will be combined into a summary document.

The survey will not take any longer than 10 minutes.

1. What are the top 3 advocacy skills you know now but wish you knew when you began advocating for special education services for your child?

2. What are the top 3 tools or strategies you use to ensure or facilitate a successful meeting?

3. What are the top 3 tools or strategies you use to ensure positive outcomes with various school personnel (CPSE/CSE chair, principal, teachers, etc.)?

4. Please let us know if there is anything else you know now that you wish you knew when you began on the special education journey.
