AP Physics students should have to learn the concepts behind modern physics.

Currently, high school students are only required to learn about classical mechanics, or the physics pioneered by Newton. However, they are not required to learn any of the major discoveries in physics that have happened since around 1865, leaving their knowledge of modern physics, such as quantum mechanics, extremely lacking. For example, they may not know what a photon is or what Einstein's theories of relativity are, even in their simplest forms. Students would not have to necessarily learn the math behind the physics, but should be required to learn the concepts.
