Dear Participant,
You are invited to participate in a study that will explore the relationship between psychological characteristics and marital role expectations in adult heterosexual men who have never been married nor ever had children. You must have resided in the USA since age 5. All participants who agree to the study will receive one week to complete the survey. A cookie will be placed by the website onto the computer with which you begin the survey to allow access to where you left off in the survey. The questionnaires should take you approximately 60 minutes to complete.
Your participation in this study is voluntary and you are free to decide if you wish to participate. You are also free to exit from this study at any time, without further repercussions.
If you decide to participate, check the “I AGREE” box below for an electronic signature. Your participation in this study is confidential. Your name will never be attached to any of the materials you complete. If you choose to enter the raffle and/or need proof of completion at the end of the study, it will be kept separate from your responses to the questionnaires, avoiding any possible matching of identifying information with the responses given. After agreeing to this consent form, you will proceed to complete the questionnaires online only. Your responses will be identified with a participant code number rather than your name or other identifying information. Individual responses will not be released or published; rather group data will be complied from this study. The results of this study may be used for research publication and/or program development in group data form.
Upon completion of all the questionnaires you will be asked to provide your decision to enter a raffle to win 2 tickets to a sporting event. If you are a graduate student you will be eligible upon completion of all the surveys to receive a $20 Amazon.com gift card. You must be eligible for the incentives to receive them. Finally, please indicate if you wish to obtain a summary of the findings upon completion of this study.
Please try to complete ALL the questions. If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time at parastooghazi@gmail.com or my supervisor Dr. Sukayna Ray at sray@suffolk.edu. I will be happy to address any of your questions or concerns. If you have any questions or concerns about your treatment as a participant, please contact the Suffolk University IRB Human Rights Officer, Dr. Harvey Katz, at hkatz@suffolk.edu.
Please take as much time as you need to think over your decision to participate in this study and feel free to ask any questions on any aspect of this study. Thank you for you time.
Sincerely,
Parastoo Ghazi, Principal Investigator
Sukayna Ray Ph.D., Supervisor
