 7%

The Theatres Trust and Julie's Bicycle are working together to improve intelligence about the theatre building stock in the UK, and promote theatre achievements as broadly as possible to the industry and public.

The Theatres Trust is the National Advisory Public Body for Theatres, protecting theatres for everyone. The Trust is the government’s adviser on theatres, provides a range of advisory services, is a statutory consultee on planning applications, and develops the debate on what makes a good theatre.

Julie’s Bicycle is a not-for-profit organisation working with the arts and creative industries to make environmental sustainability a core component of their business.

The information you provide in this survey will be used in the following ways:

by The Theatres Trust:

As part of its European Regional Development Fund-backed Ecovenue project, The Theatres Trust is is creating a 'Theatres Display Energy Certificate Pool' in order to gather information about the relative environmental performance of theatres and performing arts spaces, and how this is refelected within the Display Energy Certificate scheme. The information gathered will be used to better inform the benchmarks behind the system, as well as allow cross-communication between certificate holders to encourage best practice.
The Trust will also use this information to update its existing Theatres Database, which holds information on all theatres in the UK. No personal information will be used in this database. Please contact theatresDECPool@theatrestrust.org.uk for more information.

by Julie's Bicycle:

Julie's Bicycle will analyse this survey data against data gathered via the online tools SMEasure and Industry Green, to help improve the benchmarks behind the DEC system. Julie's Bicycle is also compiling a searchable web-based Green Database as a general guide to environmentally friendly services and suppliers in the music, theatre, visual arts and performing arts sectors.
Users of the Green Database will be able to search by location, sector (e.g. music or theatre) and venue size. Julie’s Bicycle will assess the information provided in this survey, and if the theatre meets the criteria (based on evidenced commitment, understanding, improvement and communication of environmental impacts), they will be added to the Green Database. Julie's Bicycle will contact each venue that meets the criteria to confirm they will be added to the Green Database. Please contact info@juliesbicycle.com if you would like to know more about the Green Database.
