Create a Custom Template: Copying Surveys and Editing Titles

Need to create a survey template?

Try copying your survey to keep as a survey template for future use.

On this page:
  1. How to Copy a Survey
  2. How to Edit the Survey after copying
  3. How to change the Survey Title

Note: We cannot merge survey results. When you create a copy, it's just that: a copy with new links and new results. To create sub-sets of data within a single survey, try the Collector feature.

When you copy a survey, we create a new survey in your account with a new title and new links. The system creates a new survey form that looks exactly like the original, but with none of the data, Collectors or Theme from the original. You can make changes or edits to this copy without effecting the original survey.

How to Copy a Survey

To copy and existing survey, click the Create Survey button from the My Surveys page, then select the Copy an existing survey survey option and select the original survey title to copy. This creates a new copy of the survey.

  1.  Click the Create Survey button.
  2.  Select "Copy an existing survey" and choose the survey title to copy.

Can I Edit the Copied Survey?

You may edit the copied survey without making changes to the original survey because the copied survey is a new system in your account. Any changes made to the copied version has no affect on the original survey. This allows you to  move and edit or change the question types, delete questions, and/or changing the order of the current questions. After titling your new survey, click [Create Survey > >] to open the Survey Editor and get started.

When creating a copy, the survey design and logo copies into the new survey along with any settings or properties you may have added under the Survey Options and within the actual survey design. When you copy a survey, your data, Collectors and Theme do not copy from the original.
Copying a survey makes a copy of the selected survey. The copied survey is a new survey with new links and settings.
CautionProperties that Do not copy into the new survey:

When you make a copy of another survey, themes, collectors, filters, and custom reports do not copy. Please apply the theme saved under your custom theme settings to the copied version and create new Collectors and Custom Reports. Responses do not copy. Our system cannot copy the survey with the results.

How do I Edit the Survey Title?

Click the Edit Title link, top left of the Survey Editor page to open the Edit Survey Title dialogue box. Then type the new title for your survey in the New Title field and click [Update Survey Title] to save the new title.
