How do I Filter by Property, e.g., email address, date, IP, etc.?

To view respondents who answered according to a certain property like IP address or a response date, the Filter by Properties option is a good way to do this.

This is handy if you want to:

  • View respondents who answered the survey during a specific time period.
  • Look for a tracked email address of a respondent who answered via an Email Invitation collector. (*If you used a Web Link collector you cannot filter by the email property.)
  • Look for a specific IP address.
  • View only the respondents who have completed the survey.
  • View only the respondents who partially completed the survey.

Professional subscribers can refine the data by properties such as:

  • Survey date
  • Total response time
  • Response status
  • Response type
  • Email address
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Custom value

Test: Tips for Property Filters:

Response Started/Modified Date:

When using the Date property, our system filters those properties based on the 12am, or midnight hour. To view responses from a specific day, you would go from midnight on that day to midnight on the next day.

EXAMPLE A:

You want to see responses that were submitted on February 1st.

Set the parameter as the following to show only the responses collected on February 1st:

Response Started:  Between [2/1/2009]  and  [ 2/2/2009]

Custom Value & Logic Building:

If you are using the Custom Value field, the filter will return all matches currently typed into the prompt. You cannot specify only to return the exact matches or create a custom combination logic sequence like the response-based filter.

EXAMPLE B:

You have custom values of the following: ABC, BCE, BC

You can successfully filter for ABC or BCE.

  • However, when you search for BC, all recipients with "BC" in the field are returned, because there is not an "exact" validation that can be added into this query.
