Can I test my survey before it goes live?

Because the collector concept allows you to create multiple collectors, we recommend creating a Test Collector first. This allows others to test the settings/restrictions on the link and the functions of the survey design.

  • This audience can provide feedback the functionality of the survey, the clarity of the questions, and if everything works.
  • Once you are finished collecting test responses, clear them in order to fully edit the design before the final distribution.

Option A: Testing a Web Link Collector

Step 1

Click the [Collect] icon next to the survey:

Step 2:

Choose the first option indicated as the Create a link to send in your own email message or to place on a webpage.

Name it Test Collector.

Step 3:

A link is generated in the [Get Survey Link] section.

  • Simply copy the generated link and paste it into a message to send through your own email client.
  • If you need to modify the survey after collecting tests, make sure to clear the responses on this collector.
    • You can then fully edit the design based on their feedback.
    • You may also delete the Test Collector when the real collector is ready to go to your audience.

Option B: Testing the Email Invitation Collector

If you want to use our mail server instead, you can create test messages inside that type of collector. You can create an Email Collector specifically as a test list and send out a test message before the scheduled delivery. To learn more about this collector and method, please view the following topic: Can I send a Test Message for the Email Invitation collector

Test:Testing Tips:

Consider the following in your design elements and in the collector settings:

  1. Did you include a clear introduction explaining who you are, what the survey is about, how to move through the survey, etc.?
  2. If there are sections that need to be described separately, have you added pages or sections into your design?
  3. Is there a Thank You page thanking respondents for their time?
