Why is the received data not filtered when using the Share Responses link?

As a Professional subscriber, you can share the results. Creating a Share Responses link enables you to share data without giving others direct access to your account.

NOTE: If you have a filter active on the data inside your account, those receiving the share link will see all of the responses. 

 

How Shared Data is Received:

When using this method, it presents all of the data to those who open the link. If you have filters created in your personal account, this shared URL does not show your active filtered data as you see it:

  • This is because these users are not logged into your account.
  • The link is essentially a copy of all the data on that survey. Filtering and exporting can be enabled on the shared URL. This means that those users can create their own filters and export the data without affecting the data in your account. This ensures that no responses are deleted or edited.

 

How to Share Filtered Data:

Consider between these two options if you need to share only filtered data:

  1. Create a Custom Report to generate a Share Link with only certain pages and questions visible. Click here to learn more.
  2. Export the data from your account with a specific filter applied, and email the exported file to others. Click here for additional information.

 

 Important: Enabling Filters on Shared Data:

  • The "saved" filters in your account will not show on the recipients' Share Data page.
  • If you email them the Share Responses Link, include instructions in how to create the filters like you have created in the account's Analyze section.
