What is a CVV2 code for a credit card?
The CVV2 code stands for Card Verification Value 2.
It is a security feature on credit cards that was introduced to improve transactions security. It consists of a 3 or 4 digit number printed, but not raised, on the back of the credit card.
This CVV2 number is separate from the standard credit card number. The standard credit card number appears as raised or embossed digits.
Visa, MasterCard, and Discover:
| - The CVV2 code on these card types consists of 3 digits printed on the signature panel on the back of the card.
- It is the last 3 digits after the credit card number.
